Children's teeth are very important to the development of the jaw and progression in the child's dentition to the adult dentition. Baby teeth must not be ignored even though they are subsequently lost.
- Even before your baby's first tooth comes in, wipe his or her gums with a wet cloth after each feeding
- After teeth erupt, use a soft brush and warm water to clean the teeth. By age 3, children should be brushing their own teeth and flossing when all primary teeth are in
- Excessive use of baby bottles, or falling asleep during breastfeeding can cause decay - clean the child's teeth after each feeding and give them a bottle of water only during bedtime
